After a relationship breaks down, a key question is how assets, liabilities and superannuation are to be treated, some common questions are:

  • What are your rights and obligations?

  • What if everything is in one person’s name?

  • What happens to paternal loans?

  • What about the family business?

  • Who is going to pay the mortgage?

  • Are they hiding assets?

These questions are often complex and can involve family businesses, trusts, companies, partnerships and other third parties.

I take the time to understand the issues in your matter thoroughly and my commitment is to resolve your matter as quickly and cost efficiently as possible saving you both the financial and emotional burden.


Parenting

 

The question of parenting is by far the most emotional issue to deal with at separation and some key concerns are:

  • Where will the children live?

  • How will each parent spend time with the children?

  • What if one parent wants to move away?

  • How do I get my child back from overseas?

Legally, the best interests of the child or children are paramount, and I provide you practical advice regarding your rights and obligations. Often with parenting questions, there is not one “right” answer and I am determined to achieve the most favourable outcome for both you and your children through representing you in negotiations, mediations, and if required, litigation.


Child Support

 

When parents separate, proper arrangements need to be made to maintain a child, or children. Child support can be complex and the answer to who should pay child support and how much. I can provide you advice in dealing with the relevant government bodies and, if required, negotiate and draft child support agreements.


Divorce

 

Divorce is the process of officially ending a marriage through a divorce order. I can assist and provide representation to you through what can be an emotional process.
